About Andy Cummings - Founder and Owner
Andy started climbing in the UK in the '80's and after he moved to Hong Kong in 1991, he began work at HKIS in the High School PE department. As well as teaching the regular PE curriculum, he coached school teams in Rugby, Field Hockey, Badminton and Dragon Boating.
After training to gain qualifications to transform his outdoor interests into a career, he helped develop the Outdoor Education program at HKIS which included Rock Climbing, Sea Kayaking, Sailing and Adventure Learning. In 1998, Andy embarked on a years sailing sabbatical, and, on his return to Hong Kong in 1999, founded Rockstars to provide after school Rock Climbing activities for Hong Kong's kids.
Andy has always been keen on sport and an outdoor adventure lifestyle. Since the end of his Rugby days, and after a few years pursuing Triathlon and Adventure Racing, Andy is now dedicated to paddle sports as both a coach and an athlete. As Hong Kong Island Paddle Club's Men's Captain and then Coach he led the Dragon Boat and Outrigger teams to numerous victories and achievements in both the local and international arena. These days, Andy is focused on developing his skills in Outrigger canoe paddling and splits his time between Hong Kong and Hawaii. Andy is the 2013 Master's World Champion in the 'Molokai Solo' 32 mile race between the islands of Molokai and Oahu in Hawaii.
